Whether you are looking for a game-day dip that is on the lighter side or you are looking to just add something different to your veggie tray, you need to try out this recipe! Onion dip is one of my favorite dips to eat with veggies or chips, but thinking about the ingredients in the packet we used to use to make as a kid makes me cringe a little bit. This Dairy-free Onion Dip is just 6 ingredients and is SO tasty.

This recipe came to me when we were watching football and were craving chips and dip. Most of the dips like I mentioned are full of cringy ingredients that leave me not feeling good. I decided to start experimenting with different bases for the dip. Mayo would be a good option, however, I am not a huge mayo fan so the thought of eating flavored mayo wasn't sitting well for me. I also had recently just tried Kite Hill sour cream for some baked potatoes. I thought this might be a good base and it definitely did not disappoint! Even if you are not a sour cream fan, this recipe will change your mind.

There are lots of recipes out there that use actual onions (never a bad option), but I also wanted something just as easy as those onion dip packets from my childhood. So this recipe has mostly just spices that you probably already have in your pantry, which makes it even easier!

    Tips for Dairy-Free Onion Dip:

    1. Kite Hill Sour cream is my favorite base for this (which is dairy-free), but if you can't find that Forager is another great brand. Forager is also Whole30 compatible, while Kite Hill is not so read your labels!
    2. You can use chives or green onion to top the dip.
    3. Make this right in the container and serve it in the container too! It will save you the dishes and last in the fridge all week.
    4. This recipe is for a whole container of sour cream (8 oz) so be sure to adjust the amounts if you are making less.
    5. If you are making this on the Whole30, stick to veggies to dip, but if you are hosting others or not on a Whole30, use your favorite chip and/or crackers!
