Chicken wings are always a crowd pleaser, whether you serve them as an appetizer or they are a super easy weeknight meal. I am a huge fan of spicy peanut sauce, but don't really eat peanut butter all that much. In this recipe I decided to recreate a similar sauce using just two simple ingredients... I mean what could get easier than that?! These Spicy Cashew Butter Chicken Wings have a little kick to them but are so delicious.
One sauce/dressing that I have recently discovered is the Spicy Cashew Butter Dressing from Trader Joe's. I have not lived close to a Trader Joe's in several years so it is always a treat when I get to go. Recently I found this Spicy Cashew Butter Dressing and want it on everything! I figured this would make a delicious wing sauce, but it is a little watery to make wings alone. Cashew butter is the perfect vehicle to thicken the dressing to make it stick to the wings!
These wings can be made in the oven or in the air fryer, whichever you prefer! I actually don't have a preference on which way I cook them, but if I do them in the oven, I do broil them for a couple minutes just to crispy them up!
Tips for Spicy Butter Cashew Chicken Wings:
- If you don't have Trader Joe's near you or don't have the Spicy Cashew Butter Dressing on hand, you can use the same amount of cashew butter and add 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar, 1 tablespoon Sriracha, 2 tablespoon coconut aminos, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
- If you are using the oven, broil the wings for a couple minutes at the end to crisp them up.
- I really like Artisana Organics Cashew butter and Georgia Grinders Cashew butter, but any will do.
- These wings are not Whole30 compatible because the Spicy Cashew Dressing has some maple syrup in it, but you can use the recipe above to create your own!
