If you think you don't like roasted broccoli, or even if you love it, this recipe is a game changer! The first time I made this Lemon Tahini Sauce, we ate two whole heads of broccoli in one sitting... that is how good it is. It is light, flavorful, and makes the perfect match for crispy broccoli. Roasting the broccoli in large slices like this is also my new favorite way to eat it. If you are looking for a way to get your family to eat more veggies or just a new broccoli recipe you must try this Crispy Broccoli with Lemon Tahini Sauce.

You can get broccoli crispy like this is two ways: the oven and the air fryer. We all know I love my air fryer, but it is not a much for this recipe, just speeds up the process! In the air fryer, this takes about 11 minutes, while in the oven it can take closer to 20. Either way is delicious!

The beauty about the Lemon Tahini sauce is that it brings out the natural flavor of the broccoli. Now, you may be thinking that you are making this sauce to mask the flavor, but I promise you lemon and broccoli are a match made in heaven. All you need to season and roast the broccoli is some oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder. Then once you drizzle the sauce over it at the end, it will do the rest!

Tips for Crispy Broccoli with Lemon Tahini Sauce:

  1. This sauce goes good on ANY veggie so make extra.
  2. I like using avocado oil to get the broccoli crispy, but any oil will do.
  3. If you have smaller kids, you can always cut the broccoli into smaller florets.
  4. My favorite Tahini is from Artisana Organics.

Instructions

  • Slice the broccoli into about 1 inch slices. They should look like little trees and there is no need to be exact here. Coat the broccoli in avocado oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Lay the broccoli flat in the air fryer or on a sheet pan if you are using the oven. Air fry on 350 degrees for about 11 minutes, checking at 5 minutes. If you are using the oven, preheat to 350 degree and roast the broccoli for about 20 minutes or until it starts to char.
  • For the sauce, combine all the ingredients into a blender or a jar to use the immersion blender. I prefer to use the immersion blender here, but either will work. Start to blend and add a teaspoon of water at a time as needed. This amount will depend on the consistency of the tahini to start. Once it is all blended, the goal is for it to be a similar consistency to ranch dressing.
  • When broccoli is crispy, pull it out of the air fryer or oven and drizzle with lemon tahini sauce. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • This sauce goes good on ANY veggie so make extra.
  • I like using avocado oil to get the broccoli crispy, but any oil will do.
  • If you have smaller kids, you can always cut the broccoli into smaller florets.
  • My favorite Tahini is from Artisana Organics.

I happened upon this recipe on a Whole30 FB site that was published by Hayley. It looked amazing and said I was making it the following day. True to my word I did so and followed the recipe more closely than my usual. So glad I didn't fray. It was amazing. I thought I was at one of my fav middle eastern restaurants. So today I made the lemon tahini to accompany chicken with purple onions and capers with a side of green beans in garlic oil. Again, Hayley's lemon tahini was the star. Now that I found your blog I look forward to finding more great recipes.

I made this to go with some braised chicken thighs for dinner tonight and it was great! The sauce had a little too much bite for me (I really just love tahini and wanted to taste it more), so I added a other tablespoon of tahini and absolutely loved it. My husband basically doesn't eat veggies unless I put them on his plate and don't give him a choice, and he even asked for seconds!!
