Whipped feta with hot honey is the ultimate blend of creamy texture, tangy, salty feta meets a drizzle of sweet heat. The luscious dip is elevated by the spicy kick of red pepper flakes and sweet honey, creating a perfect harmony of flavors that's irresistible. Whether served with warm pita, crisp veggies, or crackers, it's a perfect appetizer that will leave everyone craving more.

Serve this creamy feta dip at your next game day party, potluck, or just for a group of friends at your house and I promise you will be a big hit! This delicious appetizer is the best of both worlds: easy for the host and always a crowd pleaser because it is simple to make and addictive once you start eating it!

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Easy appetizer: This dish requires no cooking and all you need is a food processor to make it, which makes for a super easy clean up too!
  • Simple Yet Gourmet: This dip feels elevated and fancy, yet it's incredibly simple to make, requiring only a handful of ingredients and minimal effort. No extra ingredients here!
  • Perfect Sweet & Savory Balance: The combination of salty, tangy feta and the sweetness with a hint of spice from hot honey creates a flavor explosion that's irresistible and perfectly balanced.

Ingredients You Will Need

Feta Cheese: Traditional feta is made from sheep's milk, which can be more gut-friendly for people who have an intolerance to dairy. While not considered dairy-free, it is a great option if you can tolerate small amounts of dairy.

Greek Yogurt: has a creamy, tangy flavor with a slightly tart edge, offering a rich and satisfying texture. It is high in protein and a good source of calcium, probiotics, and essential vitamins like B12 and potassium. This is my favorite one!

Lemon Juice: This adds a nice tartness to the dip to help balance out the saltiness of the cheese.

Italian Seasoning: Italian seasoning is typically a mix of thyme, rosemary, basil, oregano, and marjoram. With all these spices it has tons of flavor and lots of health benefits because each herb has its own healthy properties!

Garlic Cloves: are known for their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It helps fight many diseases like the common cold, heart disease, and others.

Honey: has a rich, floral sweetness with subtle flavor nuances that vary, ranging from light and delicate to bold and robust. Nutritionally, it is a natural sweetener containing trace enzymes, antioxidants, and small amounts of vitamins and minerals. Local honey has been shown to have lots of benefits such as support for allergies, too!

Red Pepper Flakes: Red pepper flakes are a concentrated source of heat due to the presence of capsaicin, the compound responsible for the spicy sensation. They also provide a modest amount of vitamin A, which is essential for eye health and immune function. Additionally, the capsaicin in red pepper flakes has been associated with various health benefits, including potential pain relief and metabolism-boosting effects.

Recipe Variations

  • Greek Yogurt: Sour cream or dairy-free yogurt are both great substitutions for Greek yogurt, however, Greek Yogurt will add some extra protein to the dip.
  • Italian Seasoning: Many seasonings can be swapped for Italian seasoning, such as Greek seasoning, fresh herbs, or your favorite spice blend can all be used.

Instructions

Step 1: Add the feta, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, and Italian Seasoning to a food processor and blend until smooth.

Step 2: Transfer the whipped feta to a serving dish of your choice and then drizzle honey and sprinkle red pepper flakes on top.

Recipe Tips and Tricks

  • Feta in the brine: Always use feta in the brine because it is the freshest form of feta cheese and the brine keeps the cheese from drying out or tasting too tangy. It will also make the creamiest dip as opposed to crumbled feta.
  • How to Serve: This delicious dip can be served either chilled or at room temperature. Serve the whipped feta in a bowl and drizzle the honey on top with a sprinkle of red chili flakes. If you want a little extra crunch you can add chopped pistachios, crunchy walnuts, or any other kind of nut you enjoy.

Storage Tips

This whipped feta dip will stay good In the fridge, in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Leftover feta dip makes for a great veggie dip all week long!

What To Serve It With

Dippers: Carrots, celery, mini bell peppers, apples, warm pita bread (or naan bread), your favorite crackers, pita chips- anything with a little crunch!

Other Appetizers: Prosciutto Wrapped Dates, Carmalized onion crostinis, Hummus Board

FAQs About Recipe

Why is my whipped feta grainy?

It may either have too much liquid or may not be blended enough. Try mixing it for a bit longer and if that doesn't do the trick, add a bit more feta to the mixer.

How to thicken up whipped feta?

Add more feta to the mixer and blend it in.

Is this what Cava uses in the crazy feta dip?

It is not, but it is similar! Cava's crazy feta has jalapenos, onions, and olive oil, which are great substitutions for the Italian seasoning.
